Yes, after phone calls from Bill Clinton and Obama, mom finally gifted her superdelegate vote to Obama. I think it was hard for her because she really respects both candidates, but Georgia overwhelmingly voted for Obama in their primary and mom wants to respect that vote. The issue of November electability and what candidate would turn out greater numbers in Georgia were other big factors. Good Job, mom!

GEORGIA DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR JANE KIDD ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA
Kidd is latest Georgia Superdelegate to Back Obama
Chicago, IL – Today, Georgia Democratic Party Chair and Superdelegate Jane Kidd endorsed Barack Obama.
Chairwoman Kidd said, "I think Democrats are blessed to have two great candidates in the race. In the end, I think it's important that, as Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, my vote reflect the clear preference of Georgia Democrats.
"I was very impressed by the grassroots organization that Senator Obama's campaign created here in Georgia. In Georgia, we're making grassroots voter contact our top priority in 2008, and I'm convinced that Senator Obama shares our dedication to neighbor-to-neighbor contact. I strongly believe that having Senator Obama as our nominee puts Georgia into play, and I know that, as the nominee, he will invest in our efforts to turn Georgia blue this year."
Senator Barack Obama said, "I am proud to have Chair Kidd's support. She has spent a lifetime working to strengthen the Democratic Party and bring new voters into the political process. She is doing an excellent job leading the Party in Georgia and I look forward to working with her to bring about real change for families in Georgia and across the country."

That's so cool. I'm a little disappointed given my current affections, but when Obama carries your state by that margin it's certainly the right way to go. It's SO fabulous that your mom is the head of the Georgia dems and that she's a superdelegate. My uncle held that post when I was a kid and it has A LOT to do with my interest in politics.
